A day at the beach. Strong sunrays penetrating past UV lenses. The smell of sunscreen. Light that dances and shimmers with the rhythmic movements of the water. Sitting here feeling the shape of you take up the space beside me. My skin spans the shades of neapolitan icecream- a reminder of days of summers past, present and future. She takes a photograph to remember this moment, telling me to show the camera where the sun affected us the most. We stayed out too long but we will not learn our lesson. We’ll do this again tomorrow, next month, next year. The sun will follow us through all our seasons and we will recall with fondness when all that remains is a memory. As far as we’re concerned it will always be summer.
